Farmer x Baker is nestled on the bank of the Allegheny River at the Aspinwall Riverfront Park. FxB is a seasonally inspired café founded by Jen Urich, owner of Root and Heart Farm.
Jen follows principles of local, biodynamic, and ethically organic farming. At Root & Heart we believe in feeding the soil first. This nourishment supports our ecosystem which directly improves the nutrients in our produce. This produce goes straight to the restaurant to feed our guests.
At FxB we have a Farmer-Forward menu. We work to create a space for our guests to connect with nature. All of FxB’s dishes, hand crafted botanical beverages, and baked goods are made from scratch with organic, non-GMO ingredients. We use produce from local farms. Our pasture raised meats and dairy comes from farmers & ranchers who practice sustainable and regenerative agricultural practices.At FxB, we compost, recycle, & use ECO friendly products to minimize our footprint.

Six years ago Farmer Jen was a girl with a backhoe and a dream! The 210 year old Shuster Rd. property her & her husband Rob Weaver purchased 8 years ago was abandoned and wasn’t functioning as a farm for over 50 years. With a lot of love & labor the little farm that could became Root & Heart Farm.
Root & Heart Farm practices biodynamic agricultural methods focusing on heirloom produce. Our goal is to feed our community healthy thoughtful foods with a commitment to sustainability supporting diversity in our ecosystem.
